Gold Fever Hair Extensions Fitted at M Hair Nottingham | Review

If you follow me on Instagram then you have probably noticed that it's very rare to see me without any hair extensions! I've been wearing extensions for years and, it may seem silly to some, but I just don't feel right without them. I think hair extensions are such a great way to boost confidence, and this is definetly why I love them so much, I think I will go as far to say as I am addicted haha!

Up until a couple of months ago, I had only ever tried clip-in extensions. I had always wanted and thought about getting permanent extensions, but due to the price I always steered away from doing so. I always used to follow pages of people getting their hair extensions fitted and being so so jealous, but just always being so nervous to do it. Not only is it known to cost alot, but also because I have been wearing clip-ins myself for so many years, I am so paticular about the way I like my hair to feel and look whilst wearing hair extensions.

It got to the point where I just couldn't be bothered to wear my hair extensions in the day anymore. So I didn't, but then just ended up feeling horrible in myself on the days when I didn't. This is when I felt like I really needed to do something about it, and I came across Gold Fever Hair.

The main thing that drew me to Gold Fever hair was the fact that they are an exclusive hair extension brand. This means that only salons invited to use and be trained in fitting Gold Fever hair can stock the hair to be fitted within the salon. I thought this was great as it meant only amazing stylists can fit the hair, which pretty much means that you can be sure they are always going to look fab.

The second thing was the quality of the hair. Gold Fever is double drawn which means it is thick from root to tip - no straggly ends! Thin and straggly extensions are my worst fear so this was a big thing for me! When I wore clip ins I used to be so scared of them being so thin that I wore around three sets. Way to many, which caused so much stress on my hair, but it just shows how thick I love my extensions to be!

After deciding that I had to have Gold Fever Hair, I started looking around for salons near me that fitted the hair. Luckily enough (this must have been fate haha) a salon called M Hair which were located directly opposite my workplace fitted the hair. After looking at some of their amazing work on Instagram, and taking a visit to the salon to meet the owner James and have a consultation I was super excited to have my Gold Fever Keratin Bonds fitted!

The whole process took around 3 hours, which didn't feel too long for me, but it definitely did to my boyfriend Lew who I brought with me. It didn't hurt at all and chatting with Laura who fitted my extensions made it fly by! (I had to make up for that after by treating him to some pub grub haha).

I originally planned to have my extensions a lot shorter than they ended up. But, as they were fitted in one really long length, I found it so hard to pluck up the courage to cut all that hair off. It already felt like my own and I didn't want to get rid of it, so I ended up only cutting a couple of inches off. M Hair cut their bonds down so that you have smaller pieces round the front, and bigger in the back. This means that the bonds are super discreet, and that you can put your hair up if you wanted!

I cannot explain how happy I have been with my extensions over the past couple of months. They literally feel like my own hair and the thought of ever having them out is horrible! They last around 3/4 months and grow down with your natural hair, which means you don't need any maintenance. If you wanted, you could literally leave the salon the day of having them fitted, and never come back until you need them removed.

I have visited M Hair Extensions a couple of times since then, once to have a blowdry and once to have my roots touched up. They are such a lovely salon with such talented staff, so if you're in the Nottingham area, or even if you are not I would definitely recommend paying them a visit! They offer 0% finance on their hair extensions, which is super handy if you really want extensions fitted but are struggling to handle the cost.

That being said, beforehand I said I was worried about the cost. But, after having the extensions fitted, I can completely understand why they can be a little pricey.  The cost is 100% worth it. If you have ever worn clip-ins you will know the dreaded feeling of having to take them out at the end of the day. Instead, all you need is a low pony or loose plait and you can wake up in the morning with hair just as fab as the night before.

I have found the extensions so easy to manage and maintain. Washing and drying my hair does take a little longer, but now I have the extensions in  I have found that I don't have to wash my hair half as much, and dry shampoo is now my best friend! Sulphate free shampoo is the best for aftercare on your extensions and the recommended product to use. My faves are some Joico and Pureology.

I would also recommend purchasing a hair extension brush if you are having extensions fitted. It means you can brush through your bonds and get rid of any tangles. I have only lost a couple of bonds since having them fitted, but everytime I have this has been down to using the wrong type of brush which tugged a little too much (so completely my fault haha!)

One thing I would say, is that even though I have lost a couple of bonds, I was actually super happy for this to happen. When losing a bond, it literally slips down the hair that it's attached to, leaving no hair attached to the bond. This reassured me that the keratin bond method is completely safe for your hair!

I cannot recommend both Gold Fever and M Hair in Nottingham enough! They have been a perfect combo for my hair and I will 100% be getting my hair extensions straight back in again after they have been removed!
